Raves for Roberto’s Trattoria – Italian Restaurant, St. Louis, MO
ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – Who says that if you don’t go downtown to the Hill, you aren’t going to get authentic Italian food? Not anyone that’s dined at Roberto’s Trattoria in South County. This top rated fine dining, gourmet Italian restaurant has been collecting fans for years. Located at 145 Concord Plaza, it’s the best South St. Louis County secret, and a great alternative to driving all the way into the city to the Hill.
Customers rave that it’s absolutely hands down the best Italian restaurant in St. Louis. Born and raised in Italy, Chef Roberto Zanti, grew up with the Italian tradition of using fresh food made from scratch. And lucky for us, he brought that tradition with him to St. Louis. The meals are well prepared, well presented, and seasoned to perfection.
Favorite appetizers are the “flash-fried” spinach, seasoned with lemon juice and Parmesan cheese and the fried calamari served with a lemon wedge and a tangy tomato sauce. Another stand out is the special salad of the day–arugula, beets, goat cheese, and walnuts – fresh and beautifully-prepared. Some of the delectable entrees are: Rigatoni Ala Vodka Lobster with shrimp & mushrooms, the Tortellini Alla Boscaiola Pancetta with mushrooms in sherry cream sauce, Chicken Spiedini Stuffed Breast in white wine Sauce with mushrooms, Fettuccine Al Pomodoro with fresh tomato/basil Sauce, Tilapia Fiorentina with white wine, lemon, & mushrooms over spinach, and Veal Marsala Shiitake with onions, chopped tomato & Marsala wine.
There are choices for heart healthy diners such as the Salmon and Roberto’s Filet, drizzled with southern extra virgin olive oil and served with roasted vegetables. The food is said to be consistently top-notch, and the portions, very generous, so plan to take home a doggy bag…you’ll have plenty left over for lunch the next day. And be sure to save room for dessert because you won’t want to miss Roberto’ s hand-crafted gelato, laced with tiny ice crystals. You can choose from Pistachio, Chocolate, Spumoni, Hazelnut, Strawberry, Cappuccino, Amaretto, or simply their delicious Vanilla, all made in the house.
The restaurant also boasts of an extensive selection of wines ranging from some very nice affordable American and European wines to the very best Reserve wines from Italy. The ambiance is peaceful and relaxing, and the staff, very attentive. If you’re looking for high quality food and an old school Italian experience, Roberto’s won’t disappoint. It’s like taking your very own trip back to the old country.
