A Dozen St. Louis Restaurants Band Together to Help Hurricane Victims
St. Louis, MO/September 27, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) – Monumental catastrophes require monumental responses, and the 2017 hurricane season has already brought tragedy and tremendous loss to areas hit by a series of monster storms. Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc along the Gulf coast, causing catastrophic flooding in southeast Texas and southwestern Louisiana. Then Hurricane Irma cut a devastating swath through the Caribbean and Florida. That was followed days later by Hurricane Maria, which slammed into several Caribbean islands already reeling from earlier storms, causing massive damage in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Such large-scale destruction will require a colossal recovery effort. That’s where St. Louis diners can help. The city’s close-knit restaurant and hospitality industries are holding a special event to raise relief funds on Friday, September 29th, and you’re invited.
Eleven Eleven and Vin de Set are hosting the Saint Louis Restaurants Hurricane Relief Fundraiser at Moulin Events. Dozens of area businesses are contributing to the effort, which was spearheaded by Paul and Wendy Hamilton of Hamilton Hospitality LLC, which owns Vin de Set, Eleven Eleven, Moulin Events and other establishments.
The $75 event tickets include restaurant tastings, silent and live auctions, live music, cocktails, beer, and wine. The event will take place in the Centennial Ballroom at Moulin Events, 2017 Chouteau Ave. in Saint Louis. Parking for the 6–9:00 p.m. event is complimentary. Tickets are available online at: http://hurricanerelief.ezregister.com/. Those who can’t attend the fundraiser at Moulin Events can still contribute to the cause by making a donation directly through the online ticketing site.
The Hamiltons, who own a home in the British Virgin Islands, have already raised more than $38,000 through their GoFundMe page for hurricane relief in the Virgin Islands: https://www.gofundme.com/virgin-island-hurricane-relief. The fundraiser Friday will spread the cash across the hurricane disaster zones. Paul Hamilton says 100-percent of the proceeds will be donated to AmeriCares for Texas and Florida, and to Kenny Chesney’s Love for Love City Foundation to support Hurricane Irma disaster relief for the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
The list of local businesses contributing to the St. Louis Restaurants Hurricane Relief Fundraiser event continues to grow. Besides the Williams’ Vin de Set, Eleven Eleven, and Moulin Events, more than twenty restaurants, craft breweries, and wineries are pitching in. At this writing, that list includes Baileys Restaurants, LoRusso’s Cucina, Triumph Grill, Three Monkeys, Square One brewery, Sqwires, Charleville Brewery, St. Louis Outback Steakhouse, Main Street 4204 Brewing, Stone Brewing, Light Horse Winery, Bread & Butter Winery, Cunetto House of Pasta, West End Grill & Pub, Trattoria Marcella, Firestone Walker, Modern Brewery, BARcelona, Cellar House, Vito’s, and The Cup.
Other local businesses are also lending a hand.
