St. Louis, MO/April 11, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) – St. Louis diners are always looking for something new to eat, and someplace new to eat it. We crave creative, quality, culinary adventures. So it was no surprise that local diners embraced the food truck scene. Hey with world class chefs offering a huge variety of delicious choices curbside, what’s not to love? The only thing that makes food trucks better is when you get to choose from several all in the same place.
That’s the root idea behind Steak Louie chef-owner Paul Listenberger’s plan for St. Louis’ first ever “food truck court.” The idea is sort of like a mall food court—offering food from a variety of vendors, all in one location. Listenberger told the Riverfront Times that location will be the former Annie Moon’s Bakery at 4001 Utah Street in the Tower Grove South neighborhood. The location has a cozy indoor dining space, a large sidewalk seating area out front, and room for four food trucks to park in the back.
Initially, Listenberger plans to collaborate with some of the best food truck purveyors in the city, including chef Samantha Marshall’s Farmtruk, which offers farm-to-table fare focused in fresh, locally sourced and free range products. Also in on the collaboration is St. Louis’ gourmet Greek food truck, Go Gyro Go. And RFT is reporting they’ll be joined by Holy Crepe!, the mobile creperie in a retrofitted school bus.
Here’s how it will work: diners will place their orders at the counter inside the cafe. They’ll be able to order from any or all of the participating food trucks. They can then relax at a table inside or on the sidewalk patio outside, and wait for their food. Food preparation will take place in the cafe’s kitchen as well as on the food trucks. Once it’s up and running, this will be St. Louis’ first permanent indoor venue for food truck cuisine.
Listenberger says he hopes to have the food truck court open in May, once all of the city permits have been secured. Initially the food truck court will be open on weekends, but Listenberger hopes to eventually invite enough other food area food trucks to join in that they’ll be able to be open daily.

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – The food truck industry is booming across the nation. St. Louis is no different. Food trucks are a great strategy for chef’s to reduce operating cost and provide their popular cuisines to a target audience. Large companies have provided cafeterias in the past to help provide an easy lunch experience for their employees.
Some of the local independent food truck owners in the St. Louis area have formed the St. Louis Food Truck Association. Their motive for creating the association is to focus on quality/innovative hospitality, high quality food/cuisines and community development.
The association offers a great opportunity for food truck owners to discuss the growing food truck industry and their respective challenges including best practices.
