St. Louis Community College Culinary Arts Program is 15th in Nation

St. Louis, MO/October 7, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) – Hungry St. Louisans already know this is a great culinary city.  The chefs, restaurants, and food vendors in the Gateway City offer something for every appetite.  So, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that St. Louis is also home to one of the best culinary training centers in the nation.  According to TheBestSchools.org, which develops rankings of trade schools, colleges, and universities, the culinary programs at the St. Louis Community College are among the top 30 in the United States.

TheBestSchools.org just released their updated list “The 30 Best Culinary Schools.”  St. Louis Community College ranked at 15th in the nation.  The article cited the school’s high quality of education and career training coupled with its low cost, even for out-of-state students, as elements that make it “an affordable, attractive option.”  Editors also praised SLCC’s Career and Employment Services offices on each campus as helpful with career placement and advancement, through resume and cover letter assistance, networking, and more.

SLCC offers two culinary degree programs including an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts, and an Associate of Applied Science in Baking and Pastry Arts.  They also offer a Certificate of Specialization in Food and Beverage Management.  All of the culinary programs at St. Louis Community College are accredited by ACF (American Culinary Federation). SLCC itself is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).  More information about Culinary Arts at St. Louis Community College is available online: http://www.slcc.edu/culinaryarts/index.aspx.

According to TheBestSchools.org, this ranking of culinary arts schools is based on the quality of the program(s) offered, the types of courses provided, the strength of the faculty, school awards, other rankings, and the program’s reputation.  In updating their rankings this time around, they weighed general culinary excellence and gave additional consideration for cost and degree offerings through the schools and/or their partnerships with universities.

St. Louis Community College was the only culinary arts program in Missouri to make the top 30.  The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park took top honors.  Here is the complete list in order of ranking by TheBestSchools.org:

Top 10 Cajun Restaurant in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – If you hear some people say “the only place to get true Creole and Cajun food is in Louisiana”, they really haven’t visited St. Louis and been to any of the many restaurants that have all but perfected that cuisine. Cajun and Creole are two distinct cultures, but over the years they’ve blended together. One over-simplified description of the two cuisines is to deem Creole cuisine “city food” and Cajun cuisine “country food.” Either way, St. Louis’ talented chefs have used their culinary expertise to capture the diversity of the culture.
