Dogtown Goes Tex Mex – Red Shack

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – If you’re fond of great Tex Mex, here’s some good news: Larry and Angie Lampert’s, Red Shack, has relocated to Dogtown. The father-daughter team opened their first brick and mortar home at 6401 West Park Ave. The restaurant is a rebirth of their barbecue and burrito stand, the Q-Shack on McCausland, which initially opened in August 2014. That operation, which basically consisted of a trailer in the middle of a parking lot, closed down after the property was sold in early March.

Lambert says The Red Shack is meant to be a cross between Taco Bell and Mission Taco, falling somewhere in the middle. The goal is to run a place where customers can get great tasting food at a reasonable price. The new menu features grilled fish tacos, six combo plates, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, tortas, tamales, arroz con pollo, nachos and several sides. Four different meat options are available for the tacos and burritos: the classic ground beef, pork in red sauce, shredded chicken and “hobo shredded beef.” They even serve up habanero hard-boiled eggs.

The small fast-casual taco and burrito shop has a walk-up counter, a nice area for seating and several Mexican soda options. Their newest location will be open year round.
