Wake Up to Crestwood’s Yolklore

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) Yolklore: there’s loads of chain restaurants out there, but sometimes you just want to go to an “honest to goodness,” casual, chef-driven non-chain breakfast restaurant. And now residents of Crestwood can do just that! Yolklore, the new fast-casual breakfast and brunch spot located at 8958 Watson Road, sits in the space that was previously held a King Edward’s Chicken & Fish.

This independent breakfast spot, which is one of very few in the area, is owned by three restaurant veterans, husband and wife team Mary and John Bogacki, and Billy Oziransky. Mary formerly worked at the Four Seasons and Strange Donuts, Billy also at the Four Seasons, and John previously worked at the Old Warson Country Club and Bolyard’s Meat & Provisions.

The 1,600-square-foot restaurant, with the alluring deep eggplant interior, and Old-World charm and the warmth of white wainscoting, has an open kitchen on two sides, a visible prep area, and even a drive-thru. It follows the fast-casual prototype where diners can order at the counter, grab their coffee and juice, and utensils from the open-kitchen’s window and simply wait for their food to be delivered to their table. And even better yet, ticket wait times should be under five minutes.

You’ll find your classic breakfast items on the menu, like bacon and eggs, sausage and biscuits, and pancakes, as well as, brunch-style sandwiches. Mary’s signature gooey butter cake will also be on hand. Fresh juice every day, and locally roasted Dubuque Coffee, will be other regular staples. Then there’s the restaurant’s signature “Nest Egg,” which is two poached eggs, bacon and cheddar cheese covered in a buttery biscuit and topped with pickled onions, greens and preserved lemon.

The owners say all their foods are made from the highest quality local products, and everything from the ciabatta to the sausage is made in-house. It might have started out as a dream, turned into a successful Kick starter campaign, but it didn’t take long for Yolklore to become a Crestwood breakfast favorite.

Open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
