Urban Chestnut Brewing Expands to Chicago Market

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – There are a lot of breweries entering the St. Louis market these days, but one that just continues to grow is the avant-garde Urban Chestnut Brewing Company (UCBC).  And while expanding, it continues to keep the unconventional nature it’s known for, while still remaining a tradition-oriented brewer of craft beer.  The brewery is known for its contemporary American beers, like the Revolution series, and also, its classically-crafted European styles, such as the Reverence chain.

The company, founded in 2011, runs two breweries; Midtown Brewery & Biergarten in Midtown St. Louis and Grove Brewery & Bierhall in Forest Park Southeast St. Louis, and a third brewery, Urban Chestnut Hallertauer Brauerei, in the Hallertau region of Bavaria.  Now, Missouri’s third largest craft brewery, is taking on the competitive Chicago craft beer market with its endless flow of local breweries, and its “more than a little willing” number of beer devotees.

The latest operation in the Grove has allowed them to expand its brewing output, therefore, providing the ability to increase its distribution imprint.  They now have a capability for 30,000 bbls of annual brewing capacity on-line. Last year, the company increased distribution to Columbia, Jefferson City and Kansas City, and soon, will be joining ranks with Lakeshore Beverage Company, Illinois’ largest distributor.

Founders, Florian Kuplent and David Wolfe, have both undergone extensive experience at small breweries worldwide.  They even both put in time at the world’s largest brewery, Anheuser-Busch, before co-founding UCBC.  So, if you’re headed up north anytime soon, keep a look out…Urban Chestnut will soon be catering to beer enthusiasts in the Windy City.  The exact launch date for the latest brewery is still currently pending.
