BALLWIN, MO/April 11, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) Candicci’s Restaurant and Bar located in Ballwin, MO is opening their patio tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 featuring live music and appetizer specials to celebrate spring and the upcoming Easter holiday weekend.
Candicci’s is known for the Wednesday night events, “Party on the Patio” with live music and cuisines/appetizer specials. The opening night (tomorrow night) features $5 appetizers, 50% off bottles of wine and Happy Hour will last all night long.
Appetizers will include Baked Past Shells, Pork Pot Stickers, Parmigiana Risotto, Fried Chicken Wings and homemade Potato Chips. Live music will begin at 6:30 pm lasting until 9:30 pm featuring Sir Dame Duo.

It’s Part Bar, Part Winery, Part Liquor Store, All Fun – Grappa Growlers
Belleville, IL/January 30, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) – It’s a bar! It’s a winery! It’s a restaurant! It’s a liquor store! It’s Grappa Growlers! This distinctive little shop at 1501 North Belt West in Belleville is a little bit of all of the above, and then some. Kelly Whitney and Jodi Meravy opened their unique business in December 2011, and they’ve been growing loyal customers ever since. Their customers call this place a local gem, and they aren’t kidding. Where else can you go for a beer (or wine) and snacks with friends, catch the game on TV, and do a little gift shopping?
Grappa Growlers, Belleville, IL
Grappa Growlers does serve some food, but it’s not the main draw. That would be the craft beers and amazing selection of wines. They always have eight artisan, import, or craft beers on tap. As of this writing the list include: Bell’s Hop Slam (10%), Santa’s Little Helper Imperial Stout (10.5%), Half Acre Lead Feather Black Ale (6%), Abita Bourbon St. Chocolate Stout (10.5%), Founders Azacca IPA (7.0%), Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat (5.5%), Abita Mardi Gras Bock (6.5%), and Great Lakes Conway Irish Lager (6.5%), but keep in mind that they rotate regularly. One of the qualities that set Grappa Growlers apart from a “regular bar” is that you can sample the beer before you make your selection. Then you can enjoy that beer at one of the tables or sip while you shop. This is a great place to split a bottle of wine with friends too.
This hybrid establishment is a destination for a fun, relaxing evening. The decor is stylish without being pretentious. The vibe is upscale, but comfortable. And the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They are also exceptionally knowledgeable about the products they sell. With about 500 bottled wines, plus dozens of beers, bourbons and other hard to find liquors, that’s saying something!

They’ll do all the research and determine the availability and price of your request, then contact you with the information. They also do gift baskets that can be delivered locally or shipped out of town for you.
Customers say they especially enjoy sampling the craft beers, or sharing a bottle of wine (along with a meat & cheese plate) among friends. In addition to the food and drink available daily, Grappa Growlers offers monthly beer and wine tastings, plus they host special food nights. For instance, this Saturday, Jan. 28, they’ll be offering Gyros & Fries from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. During warmer months they also have special food truck nights. It’s a terrific way to spend an evening on their patio. And they even have live music from time to time.

FENTON, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) There’s only one Irish Pub/German Biergarten in Fenton, and it’s named 026 Pub and Biergarten. Located at 515 Gravois Rd, this is described as a cozy-looking bar with a restaurant and fun beer garden. According to some, it’s described as a tiny diamond in the rough, and one of the best kept breakfast buffet secret in Fenton.
Besides there infamous Baseball Catcher Mitt size burgers, they also get raves from Yelp reviewers on their pork tenderloin German dishes, and fantastic Reuben sandwiches. They also have a popular breakfast buffet that includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheesy potatoes, biscuits and gravy, breakfast pizza, and all the fried chicken you can eat. Not to mention they also make omelets to order.
It’s not a fancy place, but the menu is said to be large, diverse, and very interesting. It’s not everywhere you can go and have the option of ordering a huge specialty burger, and at the same time, an Irish Colcannon or great German goulash.
The Dooley family, who owns the restaurant, moved 026 from a strip mall in Fenton to their current stand alone, larger location. It continues to be an independently and locally owned family friendly restaurant which boasts of specializing in both American and German cuisine. And when the weather permits, the restaurant doubles as a 2000 Sq. ft. Biergarten.
The staff is said to be very friendly and the beer choices from all local brewers. An added bonus is that JC Corcoran is there live with 93.1 KBDZ broadcasting every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 1 pm. So at those times, expect good food along with fantastic entertainment. So, for a good new go-to place for eating out, give Fenton’s 026 Pub and Biergarten, a try.
35 Years of Cheap Eats and “the Coldest Beer in Town” Fast Eddie’s Bon Air
ALTON, IL: (STLRestaurant.News) – Fast Eddie’s Bon Air – According to the “Beer With Your Buds” survey, when Americans go out for a drink, the majority order beer. The national survey was commissioned by the makers of Budweiser in honor of National Drink Beer Day (Sept. 28, 2016). Beer’s popularity isn’t news to patrons or proprietors of Fast Eddie’s Bon Air at 1530 East 4th Street in Alton. They’ve been serving “the coldest beer in town” since 1981, although the bar’s history goes back even further.
The Bon Air was opened by Anheuser Busch in 1921. They operated it as a bar selling their beer products, including Budweiser, for about 10-years. Then new laws took effect that prohibited breweries from owning taverns. So they sold it to Sam Balco. He, and later his son, operated the Bon Air until 1981. That’s when “Fast” Eddie Scholar bought it, and things began to change.
Scholar quadrupled the size of the bar, taking it from 80 to more than 400 seats. A major expansion in 2008 added a heated, outdoor patio and doubled the seating. With 800 seats, huge lunch crowds, and standing-room only evenings, it’s not hard to believe they may sell more Anheuser Busch products than any other bar in the Midwest.
Fast Eddie’s Bon Air is known for more than just cold beer. After customer requests, Scholar added food. The simple, seven-item menu of tasty, affordable eats is one of Fast Eddie’s biggest claims to fame. At just $1.99, the half-pound “Fat Eddie” burger may be the best bar food bargain anywhere. And their basket of fries is legendary. But it doesn’t stop there. For just $3.99, you can get the “Big Elwood on a Stick.” It’s a generous kebab of succulent, marinated beef tenderloin and green pepper. Also $3.99 is the “Hot Chick on a Stick,” Cajun-style chicken wings skewered kebab-style. The famous, Peel N’ Eat Shrimp is still a deal at 39-cents each! Don’t forget the Pork Kebabs and homemade Brats.
As Food Network’s Alton Brown said when he featured Fast Eddie’s on Feasting on Asphalt, every dish is “a perfectly seasoned standout.” Brown called it a classic roadhouse, but with better food.
The bar has grown and changed over the years. Eddie Scholar was fond of saying there’s always a party at the bar, and with a huge variety of top-named bands playing on the Fast Eddie’s stage every night, he may have been right. Eddie Scholar himself died in 2015, but his family still runs Fast Eddie’s Bon Air the way he did.
Some things never change. You still have to be 21 or older to enter Fast Eddie’s. There’s still a one-drink minimum. They only take cash! And there’s no takeout! But if you go, you can still see some of the bar’s original Anheuser Busch signage and the beer will definitely be cold.
Fast Eddie’s Bon Air is open Monday – Thursday: 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday-Sunday: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

BALLWIN, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – Candicci’s Restaurant has been in the restaurant business for more than 36 years offering gourmet Italian cuisine at an exceptional value with a wide variety of menu options.
Additionally, Candicci’s has purchase certain assets of BBQ ASAP. The restaurant is closed, but Candicci’s did purchase the trailer-mounted trailer, brand name, recipes and more and will offer it for catering only. However, BBQ will be available for carry-out in the near future.
