Panera Bread menu is 100% clean of all unnatural ingredients

ST. LOUIS, MO/January 13, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) Today, Panera Bread announced that 100% of its U.S. food menu items are free from all artificial flavors and colors, preservatives and sweeteners.  Additional additives removed specifically include FD&C colors, sodium benzoate, sodium nitrate and sodium phosphate.

Panera proclaims to be the first national restaurant company to implement such standards.  Achieving such standards while not sacrificing taste couldn’t have been an easy job.  Panera has been dedicated for decades to offering better food and make a difference in the lives of their customers.

Steps taken to make such a change:

  • They reviewed more than 450 ingredients digging deep into the supply chain to assure that all artificial flavors, preservatives, sweeteners and colors from artificial sources are removed.
  • Reformulated approximately 120 ingredients, which resulted in changes to the majority of Panera’s bakery-cafe recipes.
  • Formulated more than 300 food vendors onto innovate solutions, ranging from ingredient replacements to reviewing how foods are prepared.

Additionally, October 2016 Panera announced that they had begun food delivery service and plan to increase the number of cafe’s offering food delivery through 2017.  At the end of September quarter 2016, Panera’s 2,024 cafe chains had delivery services.  Sometime later this year they plan on 35-40% or an estimated 780 cafes will be offering food delivery service.

Panera Bread Co (Ticker: PNRA) is a St. Louis based public company that closed today’s’ trading session at $213.34, down .48 from the previous trading session.

Panera believes that food that was good and that you could feel good about, served in a warm and welcoming environment by people who cared, could bring out the best in all of us.

Their commitment is to bake fresh bread daily.  Each night all unsold bread and baked goods are shared with neighbors in need.
