NEWK’S EATERY – STAND OUT FAST FOOD CHAIN

ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – Another fast-casual food chain is eyeing a move to the St. Louis market. Newk’s Eatery, which is known for their variety of made-from-scratch sandwiches, pizzas and other cafe items, is targeting the area for franchise development.  If you’re not familiar with the name, you might be familiar with the Newcomb family, the same team behind McAlister’s Deli, which was sold to Roark Capital in 2005. They opened Newk’s in 2004.  In 2014, Nation’s Restaurant News estimated Newk’s revenue at $141.6 million.

What makes it stand out from its competitors?  This “second-generation” establishment cites it’s all fresh food, nearly full-service hospitality and open kitchen concept as the reason.  There are currently 98 Newk’s locations in 13 states, but so far, the closest one to St. Louis is in Springfield, MO.  Possible future area locations could be downtown, Brentwood, Richmond Heights, Chesterfield, Clayton and Creve Coeur. The Mississippi-based company has plans to add 15 to 18 Newk’s in the St. Louis region over the next five to six years.
