Mission Taco Joint – Central West End
ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – If you love your taco’s and enchiladas, don’t fret when you hear that Gringo in the CWE is no more, cause it’s out with one Mexican-inspired joint — in with another. Chris Sommers, owner of Pi Pizzeria, might have closed up shop at Gringo, but his brothers Adam and Jason Tilford are doing great business at their third Mission Taco Joint in that very space, at 398 N. Euclid Ave. The unique street taco experience, created by way of San Francisco’s Mission District, is a two-time member of the STL100. The original Mission debuted in the Delmar Loop in 2013, and a second location opened in Soulard in 2014. Some of the main changes to the newest location besides expanding the size were working with SPACE Architects to make the Central West End space feel more like the other Mission Taco locations. A dual-hood fan system in the kitchen was also installed, and this location boasts of a downstairs seating area, large enough for 20 to 40 people, which Chef Jason Tilford would love to eventually use for private parties. They also hope to explore a future brunch option at the Central West End location. And of course, you can expect the same delicious menu of street tacos, burritos, tortas and appetizers as its sister locations. A Kansas City location is planned for this fall.
