THE GROVE GETS SPOILED WITH SWEETNESS – VINCENT VAN DOUGHNUT
ST. LOUIS, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – The Grove is about to get a little more indulged. After their first successful year in the brick-and-mortar business in Clayton, Vincent Van Doughnut, is set to open its second location at 1072 Tower Grove Ave. Known for their mouthwatering artisanal, from scratch doughnuts, this will be apart from its also popular original food truck, a 1960 Ford Grumman Olson step van named Clyde.
The new location will feature a more open kitchen and also extended hours to serve the neighborhood’s vibrant nightlife. This time, Marsden is looking into an interesting new concept which has been tried successfully outside Missouri. He is pursuing a liquor license to offer late night, hungry partiers a place for a sweet treat and an adult beverage. Who wouldn’t like the idea of your favorite sweet treat along with your favorite adult beverage? That’s simply a “no brainer!”
Marsden says they’ve used liquor in their doughnuts before so that’s given him a good crowd to do testing on. The idea of a place to get sweets and after-dinner drink sounds most appealing. The new shop will be open for the morning rush, serving its doughnuts, pastries and delicious coffee to tired early morning risers. Then it will also open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, serving up its award-winning handmade donuts to a late-night, carb-craving crowd.
Vincent Van Doughnuts’ treats have a distinct square shape — and delectably light, flaky texture. Some of their specialties include: The Dulce De Leche, a Bismark filled with Dulce De Leche and tossed in cinnamon and sugar, the Grand Marnier orange cognac and orange glazed vanilla cake with orange zest, the Turtle, a rich chocolate cake topped with chocolate glaze, pecans, walnuts, ganache and caramel, and the Maple Bacon, topped with brown sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne candied bacon.
The handcrafted, specialty doughnut shop plans to be open by October.
