Annual Heritage Celebration In Its 19th Year – Old Town Fall Festival
FLORISSANT, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – What’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the fall? Every October, the Florissant Old Town Partners provide an easy answer: a fall festival! The 19th Annual Florissant Old Town Fall Festival on Sunday, October 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will offer 10 blocks of family fun. The festival is a celebration of this North County community, both its history and its culture.
No one really knows exactly when settlers first came to Florissant Valley, but historians agree that it is one of the oldest settlements in the state of Missouri. The first civil government was formed in 1786. Old Town Florissant is a vibrant neighborhood of tree line streets with historic homes and churches, parks, shops and restaurants.
According to city officials, more than 35,000 people flock to the annual festival along rue St. Francois (St. Francois Street). And it’s easy to see why. It’s 10 blocks of family fun, with live entertainment, games, music, crafts, food, and a wine & cheese garden—all celebrating the Spanish, French and German heritage of Florissant.
Some crowd favorites will return this year, including Fido Follies, the famous chili cook-off, a children’s activity area, large flower show and competition, a craft fair, and a flea market. There will be dozens of food, vendor and display booths and even pony rides!
Once again, the Florissant Police Welfare Association will be hosting a benefit car show on the Knights of Columbus grounds. St. Ferdinand Shrine will have several activities in the Shrine area. MoChips free child identification kits will be available at City Hall again this year. There will also be a Children’s Art Festival on the City Hall lawn.
The Annual Florissant Old Town Fall Festival is organized by the Florissant Old Town Partners, the City of Florissant, and the Missouri and Regional Arts Councils.
