Greer Brewery is coming to Ellisville, MO making it the towns first microbrewery
ELLISVILLE, MO/January 13, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) March 17, 2016, the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported that Ellisville, MO had approved a license for the town’s first micro-brewery, despite opposition from neighbors. Still to date, there is no brewery. However, it does appear that progress is being made.
The West Newsmagazine recently quoted Bill Schwer, the city manager, to say that “they’re renovating the inside and that’s a little bit of a slower process. They don’t have tentative opening date, but it’s another place that’s a little unique that is coming to our area.”
While the city is excited about a new business at this address many are concerned about the traffic and with good reason. In addition to the new microbrewery there is a new QT and Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen both opening just east approximately ½ mile and a new Arby’s approximately 1 mile east.
According to public records the owner of the microbrewery is Chris Greer. It has been reported that Greer plans to produce 750 barrels each year. They have 45 parking spots and capacity for 120 guests. There will be a tasting room, however, they will not have outdoor seating, TV’s or entertainment.
While it is taking longer than was expected it appears that some progress has begun. We have stopped by to visit with somebody about a tentative opening date, but haven’t been successful in reaching anybody for comment. Additionally, we were not successful locating a website or Facebook page in search for more information.
While the traffic is a concern to some, Ellisville appears to be the hot spot for restaurants with Arby’s, Chick-Fil-A, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, QT and now a brewery opening all without about a two mile radius.
