Fine Dining for Lunch is a Special Treat – EdgeWild Restaurant and Winery

Chesterfield, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – Eating a meal at a fabulous restaurant is always a treat.  An imaginative menu of expertly prepared food served flawlessly in a well-appointed dining room can really make for a special evening.  But lavish dinners can take a big bite out of your budget.  During the holiday shopping season that’s especially true, unless you treat yourself to lunch instead.  Some of the best fine dining establishments around St. Louis also do an amazing lunch!  And holiday shoppers heading for Chesterfield Mall can give themselves the gift of lunch at EdgeWild Restaurant and Winery at 550 Chesterfield Center just north of the mall.

EdgeWild’s menu offers “inventive American cuisine” under the direction of Executive Chef Aaron Baggett.  The restaurant strives to source many ingredients locally and as such, the menus include seasonal offerings.  Their soup selection is a good example.  Right now, they’re featuring a selection of “Late Harvest” soups.  These include the Forest Mushroom and Brie, made with shiitake, Portobello, and oyster mushrooms blended in a rich cream, then finished with French brie; the Five Onion soup, a delicious combination of caramelized Vidalia, red, and yellow onions, with shallots and leeks in a deep, rich beef broth, with a gratinéed gouda crust; and the warm-you-from-the-inside-out Moscato Smoked Crab Chowder with smoked crab and fire-roasted corn in a charred tomato cream.

Although the dinner menu is more extensive, you’ll find some of the most popular elements are available for lunch too.  That includes their popular Chardonnay Chicken entree.  It’s the same chardonnay-marinated breast, grilled and served with Dijon cream, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes, just in a smaller, more lunch-friendly portion and price.  At lunchtime, the entree costs 20 to 50-percent less.  Also on the menu for lunch are EdgeWild’s full selection of salads and structured sandwiches, as well as a slimmed down selection of flatbreads, like the Pesto Chicken Flat (roasted chicken, pesto oil, sweet red peppers, mozzarella, and provolone).  It’s available in a lunch combo with salad. Even at lunch, Chef Baggett has paired each item with a suggested wine chosen to complement it.

Of course, EdgeWild is a fabulous place for dinner too.  They were voted #10 in USA Today’s “Best Winery Restaurant” in America Reader’s Choice 2016.  They also have a nationally recognized gluten-free menu, which includes some of their most popular sandwiches made on Udi’s gluten free rolls!

EdgeWild Restaurant and Winery offers two separate wine menus.  There’s the glass and bottle list which includes more than 30 selections, including local wines and some aged on the premises and bottled under the EdgeWild label.  The list covers a variety of price points.   The Cellar list includes a wide range of domestic and international fine wines from select high-end winemakers.  You’ll find the best of Augusta, Missouri, Sonoma and Napa Valleys in California, and Oregon wine country, as well as wines from France, Italy, Argentina, and New Zealand.

EdgeWild Restaurant and Winery is a full service, fine dining experience whether you go for dinner, or treat yourself to lunch!  They’re open Monday – Thursday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday: noon to 9 p.m. with Happy Hours Mondays – Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Wine Club members enjoy special discounts and benefits, including a bottle of wine each month.  But you don’t have to be a member of the club to enjoy the Wine Down Wednesday discounts!  Dine at the restaurant any time on Wednesdays (including lunchtime) and bottled wine, up to $99, is half price! It might be the perfect respite amid a day of holiday shopping!

For something a little more casual, check out EdgeWild Bistro & Tap, 12316 Olive Blvd. in Creve Coeur, MO 63141.  EdgeWild owners Andy and Dee Dee Kohn opened the casual restaurant in the footprint of their shuttered BBQ joint Wild Smoke.  They tapped EdgeWild Executive Chef Aaron Baggett to set the bistro’s menu too.  Here Chef Baggett went with a more casual American fare, including an assortment of pizzas, burgers, fish tacos and homemade potato chips.  Whereas EdgeWild Restaurant and Winery focuses on wine, EdgeWild Bistro & Tap offers 75 different beers in draft, bottles, or cans.   There’s a beer club too, with special discounts, complimentary tastings and other perks.  The bistro’s kitchen is open Monday – Thursday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Gift cards are available for both restaurants.
