An Inviting Surprise in Historic Kimmswick – The Dough Depot Cafe & Gifts

KIMMSWICK, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) – As the leaves begin to change colors, a drive in the country beckons.  While the weather remains warm, why not take that drive and have a lovely meal al fresco?  If it’s great food at a great price in a lovely setting that you seek, The Dough Depot Cafe & Gifts in historic Kimmswick might just be the ticket.  The restaurant takes up the first floor and patio of a restored brick home (circa 1865) at 216 Market Street in the heart of Kimmswick, MO.

The Dough Depot offers casual dining, specializing in sandwiches, soups, salads, pizza and ice cream and some unexpected items.  Ever had frozen wine?  How about a gooey caramel sundae made with fresh gooey butter cookies?  From their soft pretzel buns (unsalted), to their pickle pizza and homemade candies, diners will find the Dough Depot offers a one-of-a-kind experience. Besides soda and frozen lemonade, they now serve beer and wine too.

The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and a walk-up window for to-go orders. Reservations aren’t required, but they are highly recommended, especially on weekends and during any of Kimmswick’s many festivals.  They are a must during the Apple Butter Festival, October 29-30!

This is a cafe and gift shop, so you can get a jump on your holiday decorating with their whimsical, hand-made dough ornaments.  Each can be personalized, so they also make great dinner table place cards or gifts.  Pretzel buns, gooey butter cookies and candies can be purchased to take home too.

They’re open Tuesday – Friday 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday – Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. They’re closed on Mondays.

The Dough Depot Cafe is available for private parties, including birthdays and bridal/baby showers. Party platters are also available.
