Lake Forest Confections; All about the Love of Chocolate
CLAYTON, MO/February 24, 2017 (STLRestaurant.News) It was sad enough when we had to say goodbye years ago to the iconic Lake Forest Pastry Shop that had delighted so many for so long, but now there’s more sad news for followers and lovers of the equally loved Lake Forest Confections. The retail location at 7801 Clayton Road is closing its doors.
Lake Forest Confections had made quite a name for itself over the years for acclaims such as being listed in ‘The 50 Best Chocolatiers in America’ and for being featured twice on The Today Show. They had created divine chocolates for some of the most renowned clientele including celebrities around the world.
Owned by the Abel family, the popular Confectionary offered creations that were handmade in small batches and fashioned with love and care. Many of their products were made up as a one-time batch taking several days to create.
When the small group of retired master candy makers got together in 2004, they set out to recreate some of their world renowned creations by traveling the world and researching new methods in the art of candy making.
They dared to be unique with their own distinctive touch. Lake Forest Confections is one of the few places that could boast of developing each of their scrumptious creations in a top secret test kitchen being approved only after several revisions.
The good news is that they plan to continue selling their Lake Forest products at the factory where the product is formulated on the Hill. Customers will still also be able to purchase items at selected key wholesale accounts such as Ladue Market.
Like they say, all good things must come to an end and in this instance “all good things chocolate must come to an end.” For now, the shop at 7801 Clayton Road has everything in the store marked down to 50 percent off.
