Another “Dine Out for Officer Mike Flamion”

BALLWIN, MO: (STLRestaurant.News) Officer Mike Flamion: it’s usually when tragedy strikes that we end up seeing the best of mankind. That’s when families, neighbors and even strangers, come together in unity and support. And that’s exactly what has happened in the case of wounded Ballwin Police Officer, Mike Flamion. He was shot and paralyzed in July, during a routine traffic violation.

Thirty-one year old, Antonio Taylor, 31, is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. Taylor has a long, criminal history in numerous states including a felony possession in downtown St. Louis, a conviction for a weapons violation in Oklahoma, and a parole violation in Los Angeles, for which he spent two additional years in prison.

Unfortunately, for Officer Flamion and his family, life will never be the same. He continues to undergo intense rehab with Spinal specialists at a Colorado facility, but will need long-term medical care.  At the end of July, more than 30 Ballwin area restaurants donated a portion of their profits to his family. The show of solidarity for “Dine Out for Officer Mike Flamion,” was phenomenal. People came out in droves to show their support for their beloved police officer.

That event alone raised $61,000 to help out the family. Now, this popular event will continue with a second “Dine Out for Officer Mike Flamion.” Beginning Monday, September 12th, and on the second Monday of every month through the end of the year, there will be a “Meals for Mike,” at 21 area restaurants. Each will donate at least 10% of the days’ sales to Officer Mike Flamion! It’s a great way to join the local restaurant community by having a fun evening out and showing your support for such a great cause!

For anyone interested, there is also a GoFundMe page with a current goal of $360,000 goal. There has already been $354,094.00 raised to help the family.
